In this study, 18 profile picture (PFP) NFT projects were analyzed, selected for their relevance and impact within the blockchain ecosystem. Key aspects such as the publication date of the smart contract on Ethereum, the contract address, the official Twitter account, and the most used hashtags by each project's community were considered.
One of the most influential projects is CryptoPunks, launched in June 2017, which laid the foundation for profile picture NFTs. The HashMasks was also included, a collection that introduced the importance of traits and rarity in each image, an essential concept later adopted in many projects. Additionally, iconic collections such as Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC), considered a status symbol, and mfers, which stood out for its use of the CC0 license and its relationship with meme culture within the crypto ecosystem, were analyzed.
The analysis of these projects has allowed for a better understanding of the evolution of communities on social networks and the relationship between blockchain data and interaction on platforms like Twitter. The selection of these NFTs does not imply any financial recommendation, but rather focuses on evaluating their impact in terms of digital interactions and transactions on the blockchain.
