Samsung's first maritime data center targets 2028

However, the marine environment presents unique challenges: vibrations, tilt, salt air, and humidity fluctuations that can affect equipment stability and lifespan. To mitigate these, Samsung has signed an agreement with Supermicro to conduct operational validation tests under real conditions.

The bet on floating data centers responds to a Moody's estimate placing the high-performance infrastructure market at $3 trillion by 2030. These types of facilities can be located near renewable energy sources or in areas with land restrictions, offering a flexible and scalable alternative.
