Todo lo que Samsung reveló en Galaxy Unpacked

Last July, Samsung held its much-anticipated Galaxy Unpacked event, which this year featured the launch of five new devices: two Z Fold series foldable phones, a refreshed Z Flip, and two smartwatches from the Galaxy Watch lineup. The South Korean company once again demonstrated its commitment to innovation in foldable formats and wearables, though from a technical and business perspective several points deserve a detailed analysis.

The Galaxy Z Fold 8 arrives with a redesigned form factor, wider, that when unfolded offers an experience similar to a small tablet. With a thickness of only 9.7 mm folded and 4.5 mm unfolded, and a weight of 201 grams, it is surprisingly manageable for a device with a 7.6-inch internal display. The external 5.5-inch screen, along with the internal one, uses Dynamic AMOLED 2X technology, ensuring exceptional image quality. The Snapdragon 8 Elite 5 for Galaxy processor, with 12 or 16 GB of RAM options and storage up to 1 TB, makes it a performance beast. The 4800 mAh battery supports 45W wired fast charging and 20W wireless charging, although it lacks native Qi2 support, an aspect that could have improved the wireless charging experience. Samsung offers official cases with Qi2 magnets as a workaround, but it is not the same. In the camera department, we find a dual 50 MP sensor (main and ultra-wide), while the front cameras are 10 MP. The Z Fold 8 is available in Lavender, Graphite, and Cream.

The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, successor to the Fold 7, becomes even thinner: 4.1 mm unfolded and 8.9 mm folded, weighing 215 grams. Its main screen reaches 8 inches, and the external one stays at 6.5 inches, both with the same AMOLED technology. It keeps the same processor and memory options, but the battery grows to 5000 mAh, with 45W wired and 25W wireless charging. The 200 MP main camera is inherited from the Fold 7, but the ultra-wide lens is upgraded to 50 MP. It is available in Violet Shadow, Graphite, and Cream. Both foldables lack S Pen support, a decision that may disappoint productivity-focused users.

In the compact foldable segment, the Galaxy Z Flip 8 receives minor updates. It returns to a Qualcomm processor (Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy) with 12 GB of RAM. The 4.1-inch FlexWindow cover screen retains its size, but Samsung has reduced the bezels and expanded support to 16 apps usable directly from the cover. The battery remains at 4300 mAh, with 25W wired and 15W wireless charging. Cameras include a 50 MP main sensor, a 12 MP ultra-wide, and a 10 MP front camera. Storage is limited to 256 and 512 GB.

In the wearables arena, Samsung introduced the Galaxy Watch 9 series, with two sizes: 40 mm (1.3-inch display, 390 mAh battery) and 44 mm (1.5-inch, 445 mAh). Both models reach a peak brightness of 3000 nits, are water and dust resistant with IP68 and 5 ATM certification, and mount the Qualcomm SW6100 chip with 2 GB RAM and 32 GB storage. The Galaxy Watch Ultra 2, on the other hand, targets a more demanding audience: a 1.52-inch display with 5000 nits brightness, IP69K certification, and 10 ATM resistance, ideal for open-sea swimming and diving. Its 800 mAh battery and 64 GB storage place it as a high-performance watch.

From a business perspective, this launch reinforces Samsung's strategy of segmenting its high-end range into multiple variants, allowing it to cover different market niches. However, the lack of native Qi2 and S Pen on the foldables, as well as the modest updates to the Z Flip 8, can be seen as missed opportunities. For companies looking to develop innovative technological solutions, the key lies in customization and system integration. At Q2BSTUDIO, as a software and technology development company, we understand that the true competitive advantage lies not only in hardware but in how it is leveraged through custom software applications tailored to each business's specific needs.

Artificial intelligence (AI) plays a fundamental role in process optimization and creating smarter user experiences. From virtual assistants to predictive models, AI can transform how we interact with devices. In this context, AI agents developed by Q2BSTUDIO allow automating complex tasks and providing contextual responses, improving operational efficiency. Additionally, cybersecurity is a non-negotiable pillar: with the proliferation of connected devices, protecting data and communications becomes critical. Q2BSTUDIO offers cybersecurity and pentesting services to ensure that each implementation is robust against external threats.

Cloud computing, whether on AWS or Azure, provides the scalability needed to handle large data volumes and deploy applications quickly and securely. Integrating cloud services with Business Intelligence (BI) systems, such as Power BI, allows organizations to visualize and analyze information in real time, making data-driven decisions. At Q2BSTUDIO, we combine these technologies to offer comprehensive solutions ranging from process automation to cross-platform software development. Samsung's new hardware opens up interesting possibilities, but the true potential is unlocked when combined with an intelligent and customized software ecosystem.

In short, Samsung has delivered on its July appointment by presenting solid products, though with incremental advances in some cases. The tech industry continues to evolve, and at Q2BSTUDIO we view these launches as an opportunity to reflect on how technology can adapt to the real needs of businesses. The key is not to settle for the standard but to build tailored solutions that make a difference.
